Conclusion
The Spirit of the Lord is upon
me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings
to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty
to captives and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim
a year acceptable to the Lord.
Luke 4:18-19
A Plan Without End
The Archdiocesan Committee for
Evangelization has felt the heat of Jesus’
Holy Fire in our hearts as we have devoted time
and prayer to the effort of writing this Plan.
We have transcended differing approaches to the
subject at hand in search of common ground upon
which kingdom-building can take place. We are
confident of our mission, enthralled by the possibilities
this Plan offers to Jesus’ disciples, and
ever grateful to the Holy Spirit for the vision
and its ultimate fulfillment.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon
the Church of Chicago to spread the Holy Fire:
glad tidings to the poor, liberty to captives,
recovery of sight to the blind, and freedom to
the oppressed through a proclamation of what is
acceptable to the Lord: the Good News.
So then, let us not conclude but
continue this great mission with prayer, relying
on the grace and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit!
Fill the hearts of all people
with the fire of Your Love.
May all accept Your invitation to know
and love Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Fill this Archdiocese with
people who welcome
and invite others to share in the Catholic faith.
Fill our Cardinal, our bishops
and priests, deacons and lay ministers
with wisdom and courage to live and
preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Fill all parish and agency
staff with Your power to
evangelize those whom they serve.
Fill all consecrated men
and women and all lay people with the grace
to become and make disciples of Jesus through
prayer, work, and daily living.
May the holy fire of Your
love
transform our society according to the Gospel.
Come Holy Spirit!
With the Father and the Son,
You are worshiped and glorified forever and
ever. Amen.
