Acknowledgements
In June of 2001, the
Archdiocesan Office for Evangelization marshaled
an advisory committee to draft an evangelization
plan for the Archdiocese of Chicago. From the
summer of 2001 through May of 2002, the plan entitled
Spreading the Holy Fire, A Plan and Study Guide
for Catholic Evangelizing in the Archdiocese of
Chicago, was drafted, reviewed, revised, approved,
and readied for publication.
The Office for Evangelization
acknowledges the time and affirms the talents
of the following committee members who contributed
to the plan’s development: Dave Pipitone,
the Chair of the Evangelization Committee; Father
Charles Brunick, C.S.P.; Delle Chatman; Graciela
Contreras; Carol Forsythe; Elizabeth Golden; Michael
Harrison; Marcella Herndon; Angela Lightner; Sister
Joanne Marie Schutz, S.S.C.M.; and Allen Stryczek.
The Archdiocese of
Chicago, the Office for Evangelization, and the
Evangelization Committee owe a special debt of
gratitude to His Eminence, Francis Cardinal George,
O.M.I., for his unwavering support and attention
to detail in each of the Plan’s drafts;
to Dr. Pauline Viviano for her biblical expertise
and scriptural insights; to Father Raymond Baumhart,
S.J., and to Sister Eileen Wardzala, C.S.S.F.,
for their painstaking review and proofreading
of the Plan; to Pat Broderick and Richard Dobber
for their expertise in translating the Plan into
Spanish; to Father Esequiel Sanchez for his review
and proofreading of the Spanish version; to Father

of Catechesis and Evangelization for his interest
